Interventional Radiologist/Image Guided Surgeon. Dr Nigel Hacking is a Consultant Radiologist at Southhampton University Hospital. He was one of the UK Pioneers in UFE commencing in 1997.
In 1998 he set up Fibroid Caribbean, based out of Trinidad and Barbados. In 2009he helped set up the Fibroid centre at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya and has performed over 250 UFE procedures there. This is due to expand to the Aga Khan Hospital in Dar es Salaam in 2017.
He is working with a South African team of Interventional Radiologists to expand UFE into several centres in South Africa, as well as helping set up UFE centres in Namibia, Botswana and several other countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. He has performed over 2500 UFE procedures to date and he is now one of the most experienced practitioners of UFE in the world.
